A low-fat vegetarian diet actually decreases overall levels of inflammation in the body; try to get 25 to 35 percent of your total daily calories from healthier fats found in fish, nuts, and vegetable oils. Sparing use of pain killers like Ibuprofen or naproxen can be tried. Birthcontrol pills may also be given. Heating pad may be soothing! Some persons try herbal tea or tea with peppermint oil  or taking fish oil supplementsvitamin B1. Massage either with essential oils or a synthetic fragrance on the lower abdomen may help. Regular exercises are recommended. Dietary magnesium seems to help ease the pain of cramps.
