‘Doctors’ day was celebrated by inner wheel club Panchkula

‘Doctors’ day was celebrated by inner wheel club Panchkula by holding a health conclave at Paras Hospital to spread health literacy’, according to Ms Anupama Jain President of the club.

Dr. R.Kumar Senior eye specialist and President of SPEAK India ‘Society for Promotion of Ethical and Affordable health Care, presented the inaugural address. Speaking to the elite gathering of members of the club, guests and doctors he emphasized on the paradigm change in the mindset of the public. “There was a time when doctor got credit for recovery of patients and deterioration or death was considered as a will of the God. Not any longer.

The costs of critical care units (CCU) are high and post treatment benefits in terms of survival or productive life are poor. Though death is unavoidable in about 70% cases, charge of negligence is instant and assaults in reprisal are common. The premier hospitals need to be saved from their deaths from such onslaughts as well as load of dying  or dead patients. In any case prolonging life of critically ill patient is not the goal in itself, if his further existence is in physical distress or burdensome on the society.

Other eminent doctors who spoke, included Dr. V Sakhuja, Dr. H.K Bali, Dr. Rajwansi,. Savita Jindal Secretary of the club proposed a vote of thanks.
